25.02.2014 - UNDP to Build USD 58 million Waste Water Treatment Plant in Gaza with Japan and Kuwait Funding through Islamic Development Bank:The Palestinian Water Authority, Coastal Municipalities Water Utility, Khan Younis Municipality and UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People signed today a USD 58 million agreement to construct the Khan Younis Waste Water Treatment Plant in the Gaza Strip. The Khan Younis Waste Water Treatment Plant aims at protecting public health, water resources and environment of more than 320,000 residents of Khan Younis Governorate while developing public and social infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. In addition, more than 40,000 working days will be generated for unemployed Palestinians; which will also contribute to enhancing their livelihoods.More

18.02.2014 - Maqam Nabi Musa and Khan Al-Wakala: two historic sites in Palestine revitalized through a new European Union and UNDP partnership: In the presence of the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Dr Rami Hamdallah, Ms Helen Clark, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and EU Representative Mr John Gatt-Rutter, the European Union and UNDP marked the launch of a new €5 million tourist development programme at the historic site of Maqam Nabi Musa in Jericho Governorate. 04.02.2014 - The High Judicial Council, EUPOL COPPS and UNDP Inaugurate Newly Refurbished Corruption Crimes Court in Ramallah:The Palestinian High Judicial Council and the United Nations Development Programme inaugurated the newly refurbished Corruption Crime Court in Ramallah on Tuesday 04 February 2014 in partnership with EUPOL COPPS and with funding from the Governments of Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands. The refurbishment of the Corruption Crimes Court (CCC) in the Ramallah Court Complex was undertaken through the UNDP/EUPOL COPPS Joint Programme on Strengthening Internal Police Accountability, National Anticorruption and Civilian Oversight. 14.01.2014 - First Palestinian Karama Human Rights Film Festival Opens in Ramallah: The First Palestinian Karama Human Rights film festival opened in Ramallah’s Cultural Palace on 14 January 2014 in the presence of HE Minister of Culture Dr Anwar Abu Aisheh, Mayor of Ramallah Musa Hadeed, Iman Aoun from Ashtar and UNDP Special Representative Frode Mauring. The festival seeks to create a cross-cultural platform for performance artists, filmmakers and the wider general public to engage in issues related to human rights; in particular to the dignity of human beings, their sense of worth, belonging and spirit of common welfare among their communities and the wider national spectrum.
